Hope Force trains volunteers in advance so they are prepared
and allowed to respond when disaster strikes.
If this is you, then Hope Force International offers you a pathway of service to those who need help in traumatic times!
Our Reservist training focuses on preparing an individual for the arduous task of a disaster responder. The nature of disaster response can be grueling, with responders often facing very long hours each day while serving individuals who have experienced tremendous loss and suffering. If an individual desires to become a Reservist, he or she must be personally prepared at every level. Learning to give appropriate care to others and to oneself is of utmost importance.
This training is required to be qualified as a Hope Force Reservist — eligible for rapid deployment — often within 24-48 hours following a disaster event. The program covers the following topics to prepare the Reservist for the spiritual and practical dynamics of disaster response.
Core beliefs of Hope Force
Identity in Christ for the disaster responder
Foundations of emotional and spiritual care (ESC)
Maintaining healthy relationships on deployment
Core principles for effective ministry
How to be appropriate caregivers
What to expect when responding
Disaster response principles
The Hope Force online training course was created to make training available to everyone — no matter where they live, what their schedule is like… or even if there is a global pandemic. We understand that attending in-person training requires a significant investment of time and resources, making it difficult for many to participate. Our online training provides the valuable insights, principles and fundamentals necessary to becoming an effective responder. Upon successful completion of the course and with a clear background check, you will become a certified Hope Force Reservist — eligible for deployment.
The HFI Disaster Response Training Intensive consists of in-person classroom style learning. These trainings are usually held at a church and have attendance anywhere from 25-100, and typically cost the participant between $155-175. This training includes both live speakers as well as teaching filmed exclusively for Hope Force, and includes breakfast and lunch during the training.
