Join Hope Force in California!

August 15, 2011

Tornados, major flooding, earthquakes and typhoons... Our world, both at home and abroad, seems to be convulsing in agony. Around the world over 60 million people a year are affected by disasters. We cannot answer the million dollar question "why all this is happening" but we can begin to define what our response should be to the suffering of others. Look at Jesus' parable of the Good Samaritan: "But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, took him to an inn and took care of him." Luke 10:33, 34

We believe that followers of Christ have a mandate to respond to those who are suffering from disaster or chronic need. Hope Force International (HFI) prioritizes disaster response initiatives that are undertaken with like-minded companies and agencies. HFI has been a national partner with The Salvation Army since 2005 with a focus on training and volunteer deployment. According to Jack Minton, HFI Founder/President, "As a Christian disaster response agency, we specialize in training volunteers so they are prepared and allowed to respond, often in restricted areas, when disaster strikes. Our three-day Reservist training focuses on the grief and trauma cycle, personal wholeness and healthy team dynamics. Right now, nearly 1,000 Hope Force Reservists stand ready to deploy to crisis areas."

You are invited to launch out on a pathway of service by attending the Orange County, California training September 22 - 24. Hope Force Reservist training focuses on preparing an individual for the demanding role of a disaster responder. Beginning Thursday evening and running through Saturday afternoon, participants will be challenged by live speakers, video messages, group discussion and a study of the scriptures to prepare each person to bring compassionate and appropriate assistance to those suffering from disaster or loss.

The Orange County training will be held at the Town & Country Manor in Santa Ana with a cost of just $195. We hope that you will join us! Please also consider passing along the information to others and encourage them to attend.
