HFI Medical Teams

pierson.nepalHistorically, emergency medical intervention has led our relief efforts in international disaster events of great magnitude.

We are very fortunate in Hope Force International (HFI) to have a number of highly qualified healthcare providers in our volunteer ranks. When a crisis occurs, we send out an SOS and have been able to then mount an effective response. For some of our responders, it might be their first opportunity to practice medicine in what is typically a developing nation –often under extremely difficult circumstances. Although quite stressful, these professionals rise to the occasion and serve with remarkable compassion.

Although quite stressful, these professionals rise to the occasion and serve with remarkable compassion.

HFI is committed to providing opportunities to better prepare our medical volunteers for future calamities, and have planned pre-determined opportunities to serve together under less stressful conditions. This will enable us to identify areas of opportunity to strengthen our systems and practices. It will also provide first time international volunteers the ability to acquaint themselves with what it takes to be effective in unfamiliar conditions, and build confidence.

In addition to responding to sudden and unexpected calamity, HFI will recruit and deploy at least two medical teams a year to areas of the world affected by extreme poverty and/or disaster, thus keeping with our mission of brining relief to areas of chronic pre-existing need.

Upcoming opportunities to serve abroad with Hope Force:

April 15 - 29, 2017 - Kathmandu, Nepal: The healthcare system in Nepal was woefully inadequate before the May 2015 earthquake. The quake exacerbated the situation, leaving many more vulnerable than ever.  Our national partner will pre-identify communities prior to our arrival in an effort to maximize our effectiveness.

May 24 - May 31, 2017  OR  October 31 - November 7, 2017 - Sous Savanne, Haiti: For more than six years, HFI has been working near the epicenter of the 2010 Haiti earthquake, now in the rebuilding phase. HFI is committed to demonstrating compassionate care to vulnerable and impoverished people who have limited access to adequate healthcare.
