Truck Donation

April 4, 2013

truckDear Hope Force Reservist,

We are self-professed news and weather junkies in Hope Force International (HFI). We see a storm brewing out in the Atlantic, and the cogs in our brain start to churn as well. Will it evolve into a hurricane? If so, will it blow out to sea or come ashore? If it?s the latter, where will it land? And if it lands, how much damage will be done?

Keeping an eye on the weather and other developments is more than simply curiosity for us. It?s our job.

All of us on staff with HFI, plus our Reservists scattered across North America, assess the probability of disaster impact, in addition to our readiness to respond. With hurricane season around the corner, we are even more vigilant.

When something like a potential hurricane brews, HFI staff communicates to Reservists and places them on standby alert. Reservists contact employers to remind them that if called upon to serve, they would appreciate their support and endorsement.

Supplies and equipment are readied -- priorities shift to immediate response as the storm evolves into a hurricane and threatens the coast. Having prepared people, supplies and tools in advance, HFI is poised to mount an effective and immediate response, bringing help and hope to those in need.

HFI has several trailers that can be deployed depending on the circumstance. By far, the most significant item in our toolkit is the disaster response unit -- which is outfitted with essential pieces of equipment and supplies. Whether we?re placing tarps on roofs or mucking out flooded homes, this unit has proven to be invaluable to our response efforts.

Recently, one of HFI?s board members donated a truck perfectly suited for our needs -- dramatically increasing our response capacity ? and answering a very specific prayer. Needless to say, we are beyond grateful to both this board member and to God for this generous and timely gift!

We are thrilled to have the use of this truck, and yet additional funding is still required to fully stock the disaster response unit.

Please prayerfully consider a generous gift of any amount today towards the remainder of supplies needed, as an investment into this valuable tool. Help us bring our disaster response unit to completion.

We?ll always be watching the weather. More importantly, we?ll also be watching to see how we can best deploy our Reservists and our resources.

With gratitude for your support,

Jack and Cherie Minton
