Situation Report: HFI Responds – Dayton Ohio, May 31, 2019

May 31, 2019

Our hearts and prayers go out to those impacted by the recent tornado outbreak in Ohio. Hope Force International (HFI) is in the Beavercreek and Trotwood communities where tornados tore through earlier this week – wreaking havoc on homes and property.  HFI Disaster Response Manager, Joey Stoltzfus, is interfacing with our local partner, Crossroads Church, to mount an effective response. Tomorrow, Saturday, June 1st, numerous church volunteers and HFI Reservists will respond en mass to the needs of tornado survivors.

By the end of the day tomorrow, we will have a much better perspective on the potential scope of unmet needs.  What we see, thus far, indicates that damage was intense – and yet localized. Due to our relationship with Crossroads Church, resulting in the training of numerous disaster responders in the area, we anticipate that recovery efforts will be met with existing human resources.  We are reaching out to our seasoned responders, outside the immediate area, capable of providing leadership to our local response force.

Stay tuned for further updates as information becomes available.  In the meantime, please join us in prayer for the survivors of this disaster and our Hope Force International responders on location.
