Hope in Action | Appalachia
August 13, 2019
From our HFI Appalachia leader, Brian Wagner:
We set our sites on a few "projects," but we expect for God to lead us in relationship. It isn't the roof that's repaired or the garage that's sheetrocked. It's the homeowner that's invested in and the mission that's supported. It's the apprentices that will be impacted by the use of a climate controlled space to learn the skill of making concrete countertops. It's the older couple who doesn''t have to worry about their front steps icing over because of the leaking overhang. It's the older woman whose handrail that helps her keep her balance as she enters and exits her home.
Sure, we will work on projects, but the lifelong connections with the people we come alongside is where the compassion in action is engaged and the power of God's Spirit is encountered. May this week change our lives together, not because of what we do, but because of who we love! Because sometimes, and more often than not, it's the front porch sitting where God calls us to love one another!
