Hope Force Responds to Washington Fires
August 22, 2015
130,000 acres burned in Washington state in just 24 hours. With 17 fires raging, the total devastation covers over 400,000 acres. Governor Jay Inslee called the current conditions ?an unprecedented cataclysm in our state?. Response efforts include more than 3,000 firefighters and at least 27 aircraft.
The Salvation Army has requested help from Hope Force in staffing their food canteens and warehouse operations. Roger and Barbara Quesenberry, HFI Reservists from the Seattle area, will be working on the canteen for the next week. Primary areas of focus will be shelters now housing many evacuated residents in the Chelan area. As assessments continue from the key sites, more Reservists will likely follow.
